This wind resource map provides an estimate of global mean wind power density at 50 metres above surface level.  Power density (Watts per square metre) indicates wind power potential, part of which can be extracted by wind turbines.

The waters of Southern Aotearoa New Zealand have the nickname of the Roaring Forties, and the Furious Fifties.  In reference to the wind speeds and their latitude (South of 40 degrees latitude).

The time for investment in renewables is now.
